Best Photos

Derek and I made a pilgrimage north to Federal Way, with pitbull Beauregard in tow, to visit Gramma Jo and Gramma Nori.  The old ladies were having a great old time, and we had just really come up to harass them some and spend some time hanging out and drinking wine and telling stories.

At some point in the evening, after plenty of spirits, and some awesome conversation, Gramma Nori decided it was time for some pictures.  She lined Derek and I up in the back yard of Gramma Jo's place, held the camera up to her face...

...but before I finish this part of the story, I must give you a little back-story.

Growing up with Gramma Nori, I never heard her swear.  I rarely heard her raise her voice.  I knew something had gone wrong when she would exclaim 'ding-dangit!'.   If it was particularly something of gigantic offense she would bust out the 'ding-dong-dangit!'.   So, to me, the entire repertoire of foul language from my Grandmother could be summed up in those two phrases.  Even when she had the misfortunate of burning her hand on hot oil while making rosettes in the kitchen of my parents house didn't summon up a different curse word.

So, standing around, back yard, camera up, what does she exclaim to Derek and I as she is ready to take the picture?

'Say SHIT!'.  As she laughs and immediately snaps the picture.

'I get the BEST pictures that way!'.

Derek and I were flabbergasted.

It did make a great picture.  As soon as I find it, I'll post it.
